“Take The Plunge”
In a response to the social isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dorset 20’s and 30’s Social Group (DSG) has rapidly grown into a vibrant community hub. Created by Paul Hulbert in May 2021, this Facebook group has successfully helped thousands of adults across Dorset reconnect and form new friendships.
Paul Hulbert, the visionary behind DSG, shared his motivation for starting the group. “It’s a social club for people in their 20’s and 30’s. As people get older, it can be harder to make new friends. The DSG gives people a platform to meet up and make friends,” he explained.
Since its inception, the group has amassed an impressive 13,000 members, reflecting the widespread need for social interaction and community bonding in the wake of the pandemic. DSG’s events calendar is packed with a variety of activities designed to cater to diverse interests. From evening socials and scenic walks across the Purbecks to paddle boarding adventures, there’s something for everyone.
The group’s events are well-attended, with anywhere from 20 to 60 participants showing up for each outing. These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity for members to meet new people and create lasting friendships. “I would encourage people who want to meet new people and try new things to join the group and take the plunge,” Hulbert advised.
DSG’s success lies not only in the wide range of activities it offers but also in its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Members appreciate the supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable stepping out of their comfort zones and engaging with others.
As the world continues to navigate the post-pandemic landscape, initiatives like the Dorset 20’s and 30’s Social Group highlight the importance of community and human connection. Paul Hulbert’s vision has not only addressed a significant social need but has also fostered a sense of belonging and camaraderie among Dorset’s adults.
For those in their 20s and 30s looking to expand their social circles and embark on new adventures, DSG offers an open invitation to join their thriving community. Whether you’re new to the area or simply looking to make new friends, DSG promises a warm welcome and a plethora of activities to enjoy.
