  1. Sadly, the enforcement of allowing the barge to be placed in Portland will have a heavy impact on the tourist trade, We visit your beautiful area at least three times a year to visit our adopted donkeys a few miles up the road, with four generations which started in my childhood in the 60s.
This year only two generations will be coming and only once with no forward plans for future visits. To allow 500 males on a barge, is asking for all kinds of sorts of trouble that l am not prepared my younger generations to be at risk off. Our family holidays at my time of life is precious to me not to looking over our shoulders.
Thankyou Weymouth/Portland for all our happy memories sadly they are coming to an end 😢

  2. Im now worried that we will end up with more “Bibby Stockholm” barges. Because clearly the government do not care about us.

  3. THIS IS BADLY THOUGHT OUT AND OUR gOVERNMENT SHOULD BE ASHAMED HOW THISHAS BEEN HANDLED. I AM NIT AGAINT IMMIGRATION, BUT PLACING SIMGLE MEN IN A SMALL RURAL COMMUNITY IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER AS LOCAL SERVICES CAN HARDLY COPE. SO I SUPPORT THE NO CAMPAIGN AND PLEASE GIVE A VOICE.

  4. I am local to the area.

TBH, I am not sure why everyones getting bent out of shape over this. If anything, it will potentially raise the standards of people in the local area.

Hopefully the migrant’s good natures, willingness to except people and ethnic diversity with rub off on the local of Portland and it won’t be long before the locals will be trying to gain residence on the barges, as they wil be mostly likely better than some of the local accommodation.

I would say, rack up the boats and let them come.

    Ade
