BT Plc / OPENREACH Employees Vote YES On Industrial Action Ballot

The Communications Worker Union (CWU) held a Press briefing today, Thursday 30th June 2022.

The CWU balloted their members after talks over pay broke down. The CWU held 3 ballots, one for Bt Plc employees, another for Openreach employees and finally one for EE employees.

This is the first ballot since Bt was privatised.

BT plc Results – Eligible to vote 10,353 – Actual Votes 6022 – Spoiled Votes 6 – Turn Out 58.2%

Yes Vote – 5,503 91.5% No Vote – 513 8.5%

Openreach Ltd Results – Eligible to vote 28,425 – Actual Votes 21,272 – Spoiled Votes 12 – Turn Out 94.8%

Yes Vote – 20,358 95,8% No Vote – 902 4.2%

EE Results – Did not meet the government minimal threshold of 50% Turn out. However, did return a 95.5% Yes Vote.

The CWU has issued Bt plc and Openreach 1 week to come back to the table with an offer, otherwise, strike notice will be issued.
