Weymouth’s beloved soft play area, Sharky’s Fun Factory, has permanently closed. The facility, located on Albany Road within the Granby Industrial Estate, made the unexpected announcement via social media earlier today. This development comes just two weeks after the business had initially closed for “internal works.”

The connection between the temporary and permanent closures remains unclear.

In their statement, the owners expressed deep regret over the decision and assured customers that all deposits paid for bookings would be fully refunded.

“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Sharky’s Fun Factory has officially closed. We have tried so hard over the last six months to get through it, but times have been so hard that we cannot continue,” the statement read. “We apologize to anyone who has booked a party with us and can assure you that all deposits paid will be refunded in full. If anyone has a deposit to be refunded, please email us at info@funfactoryweymouth.co.uk and we will process that as soon as possible. We would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years for your support.”

Earlier in July, the soft play centre and café had temporarily closed to carry out “essential internal work,” with an expected reopening in a few weeks. On July 8, the owners communicated this plan to their customers, stating, “We will now be closed for a few weeks whilst we carry out essential internal work. We have contacted as many people as we can who have booked sessions or parties. If you have paid a deposit for a booking and we have not yet contacted you, please email us at info@funfactoryweymouth.co.uk and we will of course be happy to refund your deposit. During this period, there will not be anyone answering phones or manning the desk, so please email.”

Despite their efforts, Sharky’s Fun Factory will not be reopening, leaving many in the community saddened by the loss of this popular family destination.
