Cllr Lloyd Hatton who is the Labour party candidate for South Dorset is currently a councillor in Camden Town for Labour, which raises eyebrows amongst local residents.
According to Camden Labour, Lloyd Hatton has loved living, working and volunteering in Camden for the past four years. Lloyd is a school governor at a primary school in his neighbourhood and was a volunteer at his local community centre during the last lockdown. The opportunity to represent Kilburn in the Town Hall is a huge privilege for Lloyd. He is really looking forward to standing up for Kilburn residents every day, championing our diverse communities, and doing everything he can to support you.
Personal Statement
My name is Lloyd Hatton, and I’m standing to be your Labour MP for South Dorset. I was born and raised in Weymouth. I went to school at Holy Trinity and then All Saints. Growing up, I spent my weekends playing rugby with Weymouth RFC, working at the Marlboro fish and chip shop by the Harbour, and visiting my grandparents in Swanage. I’m proud to call South Dorset home.
For 14 years, we have been let down by a divided and chaotic Conservative Government and an invisible MP that have both failed to deliver. On their watch, they have crashed the economy, broken our NHS, trashed the environment, lost control of our borders, and hollowed out key local services.
We deserve a fresh start. I want to be a local champion who will stand up for our community and give South Dorset a strong voice in Westminster. I hope I can count on your support!
One local resident told us this:
“As a long-time resident of South Dorset, I am deeply concerned about the selection of Lloyd Hatton as our Labour candidate. While I appreciate the Labour Party’s efforts to bring forward strong candidates, I believe it is crucial for our representative to have a genuine connection to our community. Mr. Hatton currently resides in Camden Town, far removed from the daily realities and unique challenges we face here in Dorset.”
“Living in South Dorset comes with a specific set of issues – from rural healthcare accessibility and local employment opportunities to protecting our beautiful coastline and addressing the needs of our community in general. A candidate who lives outside our region may not fully grasp these local concerns or have a personal stake in the outcomes of the decisions made.”
“We need a representative who not only understands our problems but also shares our everyday experiences. Someone who shops in our markets, uses our local services, and engages with our community on a regular basis. I fear that Mr. Hatton may not be able to provide the level of dedication and insight that comes from being an integral part of South Dorset.”
“In choosing our representative, I urge the Labour Party to consider the importance of local roots and firsthand knowledge of our area’s unique challenges. Our community deserves a voice that truly understands and embodies our interests.”
